On days like this...



I have a favorite tea that I like to make on my weekend mornings, when things are a bit more relaxed and I have time to enjoy it.  What is it?  A Matcha Green Tea Latte.  I discovered it while house/dog sitting over the summer and absolutely fell in love.  Matcha is a powdered form of green tea, so you only need a little bit of it.  It gives me a bright kick to start my day :)

Matcha Green Tea Latte

1/2 - 1 tsp Matcha Green Tea (I get mine from Townshend's)
sweetener of your choice (I prefer honey or sugar in this tea)
hot water
milk (cold, or warm if you prefer)
ice (optional)

Place green tea in a cup.  Heat water, and pour just a teensy bit into the cup.  Stir it in with the green tea to create a paste or slurry.  Add your sweetener, and a little more hot water.  Then stir in your milk.  Taste, and add more sweetener if you like.  There you have it!  If the green tea isn't strong enough, you can make a slurry again in a separate little bowl, and add it into the tea (like I just did!)
